24 June 2008 - Cargill's unique portfolio of texturizing ingredients has just been strengthened with the addition of two new xanthan gum products manufactured at its state-of-the-art plant in Zibo, China: Satiaxane(TM) xanthan gum CX 800 and Satiaxane(TM) xanthan gum CX 801.

The only global manufacturer producing food grade xanthan gum in China, Cargill has launched the products to complete its existing Satiaxane™ xanthan gum CX range. Both standard grades are highly versatile with numerous application benefits as stabilizers and thickeners, providing quality solutions to customers that are also cost-effective.

A full range of standard and specialty food grades of xanthan gum (GMO-free, Hard IP, soy-free, Halal, Kosher, Kosher Passover grade, transparent, quick dispersing and dust-free) are produced at Cargill’s facility in Baupte, France.
Now, with two plants on two continents, Cargill can ensure a regular supply of quality food grade xanthan gum to customers wherever they are in the world.

Cargill standards

Cargill’s commitment to manufacturing high quality xanthan gum in China began in 2003 when the company entered into a joint venture for production in the Zibo plant. Today, the facility is wholly-owned by Cargill with state-of-the-art technology, manufacturing processes and food safety standards for xanthan gum production. The plant meets all applicable legal and safety requirements, as well as all EU GM labeling requirements.

Furthermore, on March 25, 2008, Cargill announced it is establishing a joint food safety management training program with China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ). Cargill also has instituted a global Supplier Qualification Program, which includes providing training to suppliers and arranging visits to the plants.

“These actions demonstrate Cargill’s commitment to the highest standards of quality and safety, assuring our customers of consistent product performance and the reliable supply of our standard grades of xanthan gum on two continents,” says Fabrice Bohin, business director, hydrocolloids, Cargill Texturizing Solutions. “Other new bio-gums are under development and will roll out soon.”

Unmatched texturizing offer

Satiaxane™ xanthan gum CX 800 is a highly versatile, 80-mesh product that stabilizes, suspends, thickens and improves texture. Typical applications include dressings, sauces, mayonnaises, frozen desserts, dairy, fruit preparations, bakery products, syrups, and meat products.

Satiaxane™ xanthan gum CX 801 is a fine mesh product offering rapid hydration for instant foods such as dry mix beverages, soups, dressings, desserts and bakery mixes.

Both grades are Halal and Kosher certified, with relevant documentation available.

Satiaxane™ xanthan gum products are part of Cargill’s unmatched portfolio of texturizing offerings, ranging from single ingredients, such as pectins, carrageenans, alginates, soy flours, starches, lecithins and cultures to multi-component functional systems. All are manufactured within Cargill’s strict tradition for product quality and technical support.
