27 June 2008 - Wisconsin-based DuBay Ingredients LLC, which holds an exclusive license on the process and proprietary formula for whey permeate to ethanol technology, claims to be the only company in the world that converts whey permeate to ethanol at high efficiency.

According to local media reports, state governor Jim Doyle, upon a visit to the company's site earlier this week, praised DuBay's role in promoting an eco-friendly fuel alternative. Doyle was also promoting 'Clean Energy Wisconsin' -a plan to grow the state's economy with environmentally friendly business development.

The governor hopes by 2025, 25% of Wisconsin's electricity and fuel will come from renewable sources.

Whey's popularity as a high-protein commodity for human and animal food products has limited earlier attempts to use it for ethanol production, added the reports.
