China's Global Sweeteners' Share Trading Halted

1 July 2008 - Trading in the shares of Global Sweeteners Holdings Limited were suspended yesterday pending the release of what the company describes as a "major and connected transaction of the Company which is price-sensitive in nature".

Global Sweeteners is a leading Chinese manufacturer of various corn sweeteners including glucose & maltose syrup, high fructose corn syrup, crystallised glucose, maltodextrin and sorbitol for food and beverage.

Global Sweeteners is one of the largest corn sweeteners producers in China with an annual production capacity of 1,020,000 tons.

Global Sweeteners is a non-wholly owned subsidiary of Global Bio-chem.
