7 July 2008 - According to data from the German confectionery industry association - Bundesverband der Deutschen Suesswarenindustrie - Germany's cocoa bean grind amounted to 89,052 tons in the second quarter of 2008, up 13.4% on the year.
However, Q2 grindings are down from Q1 2008 grindings of 102,123 tons.
German cocoa grindings are seen as the first indication of cocoa use in Europe.
