Agrana Expands Hungarian Production Facility - Europe's Largest Grain Processing Plant Opened

Vienna, 14 July 2008 - AGRANA has concluded the expansion programme at its Hungarian facility HUNGRANA Kft., Szabadegyháza, Hungary, a 50-50 joint venture with Eaststarch C.V. (Tate & Lyle and ADM). Based on the start-up of the new production capacities, HUNGRANA now operates as Europe's largest producer for corn starch and isoglucose.

Total investments in the project amounted to approximately EUR 100 million. One million tonnes of corn will be processed annually in this highly advanced facility, which is unrivalled in Europe.
 
AGRANA’s Hungarian factory produces about 220,000 tonnes of isoglucose each year, comprising 27% of total European isoglucose output. Moreover, up to 180,000 m³ of bioethanol can be manufactured annually at the HUNGRANA plant.
