24 July 2008 - Daiichiya-Love's Bakery, a leading supplier of freshly-baked bread in Hawaii, has been sold to a group of Hawaii managers by its Japanese owner, First Baking Co. Ltd. of Japan., report local media.
Love's president Mike Walters will remain CEO under the new ownership, add the reports.
Established in 1851, Love's has 349 employees. First Baking Co. Ltd. bought Love's Bakery in 1981 and changed its name to Daiichiya-Love's Bakery.
The Company’s bakery is located on the Island of Oahu and has delivery depots in Maui, Kauai, Hilo, Kona and Molokai. The company also distributes private label bakery brands for many of Hawaii's grocery stores.
