Kirin: No Comment on Report of Interest in Schweppes

Tokyo, Aug 4 - The president of Kirin Holdings said he could not comment on a media report that the Japanese beer maker is interested in a potential bid for Cadbury's Schweppes soft drinks business in Australia.

"It's difficult for us to comment on individual media reports," Kazuyasu Kato said at a news conference.

The Australian Financial Review had reported that Kirin was believed to be interested in buying the Australian Schweppes soft drinks unit being sold by Cadbury.
