Los Angeles, Aug 18 - Starbucks Corp on Thursday said it has inked a deal with concessionaire Servex to open coffee shops in Dutch rail stations, starting with Amsterdam's Centraal Station in the spring of 2009.
A Starbucks spokeswoman declined to say how many stores would be opened under the pact with Servex, a subsidiary of NS, the Netherlands' largest passenger rail transportation company.
Starbucks currently has three airport stores in the Netherlands and plans to continue work on its broader development plans in the country.
The coffee chain, which is working on a U.S. turnaround while pursuing international growth, also has a roasting plant and support center for Europe, the Middle East and Africa in the Dutch city of Westpoort.
Starbucks in June announced a plan to license 150 new locations in airports and rail stations in Britain, France and Germany over the next three years through a deal with the U.K. group SPP.
