5 September 2008 - Spanish food producer SOS Cuetara announced it is considering selling its biscuit business as well as some regional brands.
The company has contracted the services of Ahorro Corporación Financiera, S.V., S.A. to evaluate the eventual disposal.
The disposal would form "part of the strategic decision taken by the Group following the acquisition of Bertolli to focus its efforts on those business lines in which it has both an international presence and the potential to expand its international markets", SOS Cuetara said in a statement.
"The Group plans to centre its management effort on those divisions that will enable it to consolidate its position as a global branded food operator enjoying a leadership position in its principal markets, while at the same time reducing significantly the financial burden arising from the acquisition of Bertolli".
SOS Cuetara mainly manufactures and distributes biscuits in Spain and Portugal. The Group has production facilities in both these countries, where it distributes under the brand Cuetara, a leading biscuit brand in the Iberian market.
