UK: Robert Wiseman Dairies Opens GBP 80 Mln Facility in Somerset

9 September 2008 - Robert Wiseman Dairies of the UK, a supplier to supermarket chains, including Sainsbury's, Somerfield and Waitrose, has officially opened its new GBP 80 million facility at Bridgwater in Somerset.

According to UK press reports, the plant will produce up to 250 million litres of milk per year with a view to double capacity. The plant would cater for around 10% of the nation's milk.

It is understood that new facility will eventually lead to the creation of 500 jobs.

The facility was opened by Lord Rooker, Britain's farming minister.

Robert Wiseman Dairies processes and distributes milk from 22 sites across the UK. It employs more than 4,500 people.
