18 Sept - Cadbury Confectionery has confirmed plans to redevelop its Dunedin plant in New Zealand will go ahead, leading to loss of 145 jobs.

Daily News Alerts

As reported on FLEXNEWS last month, the chocolate giant had tabled proposals for a NZ$51 million upgrade to the factory by the end of 2011. The upgrade will boost production by around a quarter but mean less staff are needed, said the company.

A Cadbury’s spokesman confirmed this week that its staff consultation procedure had been completed without any alternative plans being put forward.

Job losses will begin at the start of 2009 and be staggered throughout 2009 and 2010 as the overhaul of the plant progresses.
