EU Takes India to WTO Again Over Drinks Taxes

Brussels, Sept 22 - The European Union said on Monday it was launching new action against India at the World Trade Organisation because of high state-level taxes that block European wine and spirits from its huge market.

The EU's executive Commission said in a statement it was taking action over the way tax legislation and other measures on market access for wine and spirits are applied in big states such as Goa, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
