Honduras Sees Higher Coffee Exports in 2008/09

Tegucigalpa, 1 Oct - Honduras expects its coffee exports to rise to 3.64 million 60-kg bags of coffee in the upcoming 2008/09 harvest, the country's coffee institute said on Tuesday.

Honduras, the second-biggest coffee producer in Central America, has exported around 3.39 million 60-kg bags of coffee in the 2007/08 season. The crop year runs from October to September.

The small Central American nation is trying to significantly increase the size of its coffee crop and hopes to export as much as 7 million, 60-kg bags by 2011/12 by investing in farm renovation.
