India Jan-Sept Coffee Exports Rise 6.3 pct

Mumbai, Oct 1 - India's coffee exports rose 6.3 percent during the first nine months of 2008 on firm demand from European countries and a weak rupee, an official from the Coffee Board said on Wednesday.

Total Jan-Sept exports were 184,976 tonnes, compared with 174,077 tonnes a year ago, the official, who did not want to be identified, told Reuters.

India produces only 4 percent of the world's coffee, but exports 70-80 percent of its output.
