Helsinki, Oct 7 - Finland has withdrawn Chinese Koala biscuits and White Rabbit sweets from the market as a precaution, Finland's Food Safety Authority said on Monday.
Thousands of children in China have fallen sick and four have died after drinking melamine-laced milk. The dairy scare, China's latest in a long line of food safety problems, has prompted mounting recalls and warnings abroad.
The authorities withdrew the products after the Netherlands filed an alert with the European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed, saying the same products found in their country were tainted with the industrial chemical melamine.
The products in Finland, less than 100 kg (220.5 lbs) in total, have been destroyed, an authority spokeswoman said.
The authority also said it had introduced more stringent control of Chinese products that contain milk.
