Company officials met with Carthage employees today. The workforce will be released in December when the plant ceases operations. Departing employees will be offered transition and outplacement support. To the extent possible, Cargill will seek to place interested, qualified employees in other positions within the company.

“The employees at the Carthage plant have worked hard and we recognize and appreciate their commitment and years of service,” said Mike Venker, president, Cargill Dressings, Sauces & Oils. “We made every effort to make the plant profitable and keep it in the community, but ultimately could not continue to operate it at a financial loss.”
