DES MOINES, IA – FEBRUARY 13, 2006: Kemin Industries, Inc., announced the formation of its newest company, Kemin Food Ingredients, Inc. (KFI), a global company providing superior shelf life solutions to preserve the freshness and enhance the quality of human food.
Dr. Christopher Nelson, President of Kemin Industries, Inc., stated, “Kemin Food Ingredients officially became an independent operating company on January 1, 2006. Historically, the food ingredients’ divisions were part of the Kemin AgriFoods’ business units in the US, India, Europe and Asia. Although the food ingredients’ divisions experienced rapid growth under this structure, it became evident to me that this portion of our business needed to become more focused to better serve our customers and realize its full potential. Thus the formation of Kemin Food Ingredients.”
K.P. Philip, President of KFI, added, “Kemin Food Ingredients is now transitioning into a worldwide organization and investments are being made in personnel, lab space and equipment to support this new company going forward. Planning and investment for long-term growth will encompass new products and categories. KFI will introduce a ‘Functional Food Ingredients’ platform in 2006 and the first entry under this platform will be FloraGLO® brand Lutein, which we will market into the food and beverage industries.” Current product lines include FORTIUM® brand natural antioxidants and extracts, SHIELD® brand antimicrobial systems, and EN-HANCE™ brand synthetic antioxidants.
