15 October 2008 - Kraft Foods has said it will invest an additional BGN 1 million (about 0.5 million euro) in its Kostinbrod coffee plant in Bulgaria next year.
The investment is aimed at growing Kraft Foods' foreign presence in Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine to other coffee markets in Southeast Europe.
The news comes six months after the company decided to double its coffee output in Bulgaria after the lifting of the excise duty on coffee, which took place in early 2008.
Executive director Franco Del Fabbro commented: "Now in this uncertain global economic environment, Bulgaria has a unique opportunity to make the EU funds available soon to investors and continue on its growth and development path".
In Bulgaria, Kraft Foods produces 3 variations of the Jacobs brand: Aroma, Espresso, and Monarch. More recently, the company launched Jacobs Monarch Intense, developed for Bulgarian consumers. Kraft Foods also owns the Nova Brasilia trademark.
