South Africa's AVI Says Q1 Revenue up 18 pct

Johannesburg, Oct 15 - South Africa's branded food and drinks group AVI Ltd reported an 18 percent rise in first quarter revenue on Wednesday, but said margins remained under pressure due to high commodity prices and exchange rates.

Chairman Angus Band said in a statement revenue had been boosted by higher prices to offset rising input costs. He said the outlook for the first-half depended on whether sales volume growth continued at the same pace and on consumer demand over the festive season.
