21 October 2008 - Further to receiving many requests from both Czech and foreign companies, the Czech Agricultural and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) has made public the name of the producer involved in the pentachlorophenol-contaminated guar gum shipment, which arrived from India on 29 September.

"The contaminated guar gum was placed on the market by the Indian company Satyam Enterprises", said the CAFIA in a statement.

The contaminated guar gum batch weighed 10 tons and was impounded at the country’s border.

Jakub Sebesta, CAFIA Director General, commented: “As the defective batch did not reach the market at all, there is no health risk to consumers. This also proves that the Czech Agricultural and Food Inspection consistently comply with the measures introduced by the European Commission and that they are effective.”

Established in 1981, Satyam Enterprises claims to be a pioneer manufacturer of High Viscosity Guar Gum Powder with utmost care for the Quality, with low level Bacteria. The company is based in Jodhpur.
