31 October 2008 - Colombian food firm Grupo Nacional de Chocolates has announced a net profit of 180 billion Colombian pesos (USD 76 million) in the January-September 2008 period, up 46% from 2007.
Meanwhile, operating profit rose 19% to COP 343 billion.
Ebitda also grew 16% to COP 416 billion.
The company had previously said that last year's results were impacted by the revaluation of the Colombian peso, which depreciated its overseas assets and hit the company's balance sheet.
Grupo Nacional de Chocolates is a leader in the Colombian food sector and one of the leading food groups in Latin America. It has seven core businesses: coffee, pastas, chocolates, biscuits/cookies, sweets, meats and ice creams.
