Want Want Says Chairman Buys Taiwan Media Firm

Hong Kong, Nov 4 - Want Want China, one of China's biggest snack makers, said on Tuesday its chairman, Tsai Eng-meng, and family members had reached an agreement to buy Taiwan's media firm China Times Group for an undisclosed sum.

"The investment is a personal investment of the Tsai Family and is financed entirely by the Tsai Family's own source of funds," Want Want said in a statement in the afternoon.

The snack maker said it would not be involved in the investment or the operation of China Times Group, which operates various media businesses in Taiwan. It gave no further details.

Shares of Want Want gained 1.42 percent to HK$2.86 at midday on Tuesday.
