28 November 2008 - China has blasted some media reports about melamine-contaminated wheat flour exported to Kyrgyzstan by describing them as "wrong" and has re-inspected batches to "protect the reputation of Chinese exports".
China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) reports that in October, China exported a batch of wheat flour to Kyrgyzstan.
"Before exportation, the goods had been inspected separately by production enterprises and Chinese inspection and quarantine institutions. After arrival in Kyrgyzstan, the goods had been inspected by related inspection and quarantine departments of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Russia, and the inspection results showed no melamine existing in the goods", said the customs body.
"We hope the public can know the fact that the flour exported to Kyrgyzstan from China has melamine, and are safe and quality. We hope no false information will be spread any more", said AQSIQ.
