Uni-President Corp Invest US$35 Million in Chinese Drinks Distributor

Taipei, 17 Dec, 2008 - Uni-President Corp announced it has invested US$35 million in China-based beverage distributor Sanshui Jianlibao Commerce Co.

A Uni-President statement said the cash injection would be focussed on starting production at the Chinese company’s base in Guangzhou.

At present , Sanshui distributes Jianlibao-brand drinks in China for the Taiwanese food producer.

Selina Wu, Uni-President Public Affairs Director, said "In the future, we hope (some time next year) we can produce our own carbonated drinks there."

The funds were added via Uni-President’s subsidiary Cayman President Holdings Ltd – which has a 69% share in Sanshui Jianlibao Commerce. The remaining shares are held by Zhongshan President Enterprises Co. another wholly owned unit of the Taiwanese firm.
