18 Dec, 2008 - HP Bulmer Ltd has announced 54 jobs will be lost from the bottling line at its plant in Hereford.
The decision was made by the cider maker’s parent company Scottish & Newcastle, which said it was relocating its bottling processing to Tadcaster, North Yorkshire, from March 2009.
Some workers may have the opportunity to relocate to other Scottish & Newcastle sites in the UK.
The Hereford plant, which has been HP Bulmer’s headquarters since the 1930s, will continue to employ around 350 people. Most of the cider produced at the site is either packaged in kegs or cans.
A company spokesman said: "In response to the decline in demand for premium bottled beers and ciders, S&N UK has acted to protect its long term future by reducing its overall bottling capacity."
