18 December 2008 - French private label biscuit manufacturer Poult Panier Tanguy has acquired the Rougier biscuit brand from Loc Maria for an undisclosed amount.
Located in Sully-sur-Loire (Loiret department), Rougier is a specialist producer of cookies and breakfast biscuits.
At the same time, Poult Panier Tanguy will sell its pancake products under the Tanguy brand to Loc Maria.
Loc Maria acquired Rougier, a previously family-owned company, in September 2005. Further to the sale of the business to Poult Panier Tanguy, the Rennes-based firm will strengthen its focus on its chocolate confectionery operation Les Gavottes.
Born out of the merger between Panier and Tanguy in the 80s and then from the merger with Poult in 2005, Poult Panier Tanguy produces nearly 300 million packets of biscuits per year and employs approximately 750 people.
The company currently has 17 production lines at 4 plants. Poult Panier Tanguy mainly distributes its biscuits in France but also in other European countries, in France's overseas territories and in Africa.
