Fresh Del Monte Produce Signs Exclusive Banana Production and Purchase Agreement with Rise N' Shine Biotech of India

Coral Gables, Fla. Feb, 9, 2009 - Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. today announced that it has signed a new, long-term, exclusive banana production and purchase agreement with Rise n' Shine Biotech Pvt. Ltd., one of the largest diversified biotech, floriculture and horticulture operations in India.

Rise n’ Shine is a highly respected industry leader in banana plantlet research and development with exclusive production sources in an area that offers an excellent growing environment.

India is one of the world’s largest banana producing countries with the majority of its production consumed by the domestic market. As part of the agreement, Fresh Del Monte immediately begins providing technical assistance to Rise n’ Shine and its production sources, ensuring the highest quality standards are packed in every box of Del Monte® branded bananas. The first shipment of Del Monte® branded bananas is scheduled for export to the Middle East in June 2009.
