UK: Clif Bar & Company Recalls Some Clif and Luna Energy Bars on Salmonella Fears

Feb 10 - The UK Food Standards Agency has announced that Clif Bar & Company (based in Berkeley, USA) has recalled some of its Clif Crunchy Peanut Butter flavour energy bar (68g) and Luna Nutz Over Chocolate flavour energy bar (48g), because of the possible presence of Salmonella Typhimurium.

The Agency has issued a Food Alert for Information.

Product detailsThe products being recalled are:

* Clif Bar Crunchy Peanut Butter flavour, 68g
Best before dates: 7 November 2008 to 31 December 2009
* Luna Nutz over Chocolate flavour, 48g
Best before dates: 28 October 2008 to 31 December 2009

No other Clif Bar & Company products or flavours are known to be affected.

Clif Bar & Company has recalled the affected products as they may contain peanut products manufactured by Peanut Corporation of America. The affected products have been withdrawn from sale in shops in the UK. Consumers who have bought an affected product can return it for a replacement – these replacement products are not affected by the recall.
