Mumbai, Feb 19, 2009 - India's tea exports are expected to rise to 203 million kilograms in FY09 from 200 million kilograms in the same period a year earlier as the country gains from a crop shortfall in Kenya, a senior Tea Board official said.
"Exports are higher this financial year as the crop from Kenya has taken a hit due to bad weather," Gagan Boriah, Director of Tea Development, told Reuters on Thursday.
India's tea production in FY09 is expected to rise 2 percent to 1,000 million kg on the back of increase in yield from replantation and higher acreage, a senior Tea Board official said on Thursday.
