Toronto, Feb 24 - George Weston Ltd, North America's largest baked goods maker, reported a higher quarterly profit Tuesday, helped mostly by the sale of its Canadian dairy business.
The company, which also owns grocery chain Loblaw Cos , said fourth-quarter profit rose to C$404 million ($322.5 million), or C$3.05 a basic share, from C$151 million, or C$1.07 a basic share, in the year-earlier period.
The latest results included a C$335 million pretax gain from the sale of the Canadian dairy and bottling operations to cheesemaker Saputo Inc.
Sales rose 11.4 to C$8.05 billion.
