Hanoi, March 27 - Vietnam revised up its estimate of 2008 paddy rice and coffee output on Friday, saying the country harvested 38.7 million tonnes of the grain and produced 1.06 million tonnes (17.76 million bags) of coffee.
The revised rice output was little changed from the 38.63 million tonnes estimated in December, but the new coffee output figure was 6.4 percent higher than the 996,300 tonnes estimated last year, the government's statistics office said in its quarterly report.
Vietnam's coffee crop year runs from October to September, but the statistics report is based on the calendar year.
