Kraft Foods to Invest 4 Mln Euro in French Belin Crackers Plant

7 April 2009 - Kraft Foods has decided to invest up to 4 million euro in its LU Biscuits La Haye-Fouassière 'Belin' crackers plant near Nantes, France, after the municipality approved a 200,000 euro support package for the plant.

It is understood that about 20 jobs will be created for the new production line.

According to the maire of La Haye-Fouassière, Jean-Pierre Bouillant, LU was also considering other sites in Italy or the Czech Republic for the investment.

Kraft Foods acquired LU as part of its 2007 takeover of Danone's biscuit operations. The acquisition included market-leading biscuit brands – such as LU, Tuc and Prince – and operations and assets in more than 20 countries, including 32 manufacturing facilities.
