The nation's media reports that the General Secretariat Municipalities (GSM) has sent out of a circular to all food control sections and departments urging these bodies to carry out laboratory tests.

Red Bull Cola is not sold in the UAE as the product has not yet been launched in the Middle East and African regions.

Malaysia's Health Ministry, meanwhile, has announced that Red Bull drinks in the local market are safe for consumption as these are not imported from Austria and do not contain alcohol or cocaine.

Malaysia placed a ban on the import of Red Bull products from Austria in 2001, as their caffeine levels did not meet the standards stipulated under the national food law.

Red Bull drinks sold locally are imported from Thailand and packed in Malaysia.
