May exports fell 35 percent to 557,000 bags, said a statement from the growers federation.

Output has been reduced due to heavy rains and a crop renovation program that has taken some fields temporarily out of production.

Between January and May, output fell 30 percent versus the same 2008 period to 3.55 million sacks. Exports in the January-May period fell 24 percent to 3.73 million sacks versus the first five months of last year, the statement said.
