European Commission Clears Acquisition of Russian Alcohol Group by Lion Capital and CEDC

7 September 2009 - The European Commission has granted clearance under the EU Merger Regulation to the acquisition of joint control of CJSC Russian Alcohol Group and its subsidiaries (Russian Alcohol Group) by Lion Capital LLP of the UK and Central European Distribution Corporation (CEDC) of the US.

Lion Capital is a private equity investor. CEDC manufactures vodkas and distributes alcoholic beverages. Russian Alcohol Group manufactures and distributes vodkas and ready mixed alcoholic beverages.

The operation was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
