30 June 2009 - Impress announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase the business of Megasa, one of Spain's leading providers of seafood cans. The transaction, which is subject to the usual conditions, is expected to complete in the first quarter of 2009.

Based in Vilagarcia, on the Atlantic coast near Vigo, the factory employs around 150 people and produces steel cans for the tuna, sardine and shellfish markets in Galicia, home to Europe's largest seafood processing industry. The acquisition complements the nearby Impress factory in Pontevedra, which produces seafood cans in aluminium.

Megasa, a family company with a long history in the Galicia area, is the third largest manufacturer of seafood cans on the Iberian Peninsula, with annual sales of approximately 40 million euros.

'We are delighted to have this opportunity to extend our presence in this important market for seafood ', says Francis Labbé , Chief Executive Officer of Impress. 'Megasa is an excellent company with loyal customers, and a well-deserved reputation for quality and timely supply. This acquisition broadens our coverage of the industry in Europe, and reinforces our position as the world's largest producer of seafood cans'.
