Hanoi, Oct 20 - Vietnam, the world's second-biggest rice exporter, has reached its annual rice export target with contracts to ship a record 6 million tonnes, the government said on Tuesday.
A government statement quoted the Vietnam Food Association as saying African and the Middle East markets posted the strongest annual expansion of 98 percent and 65 percent respectively.
The Southeast Asian country could export as much as 6.3 million tonnes of rice this year, with the Philippines the biggest buyer, government agriculture officials have said.
