28 October 2009 - Tata Tea, India's largest tea maker by volume, has reported a 32% rise in FY Q2 net profit at INR 2.87 billion, up from INR 2.18 billion a year earlier.
Net sales rose 18% to INR 13.97 billion from INR 11.81 billion in Q2 last year due to a strong performance from its brands and to improved price realisations in key markets which offset increased commodity costs.
During the quarter, Tata Tea increased its stake in Mount Everest Mineral Water Ltd from 40.11% to 40.27%.
