3 November 2009 - Leading animal agriculture health and nutrition company Novus International, Inc. will launch a human nutrition division in 2010 called Stratum Nutrition.
"Stratum will leverage the Novus core competencies in nutritional research and innovation, and will focus its efforts on growing a portfolio of specialty and functional ingredients that target B2B manufacturers of foods, beverages and dietary supplements in North America and Europe", stated Novus.
To develop its human health ingredients, Stratum will select from both internally cultivated ingredient systems, and technology partnerships with third parties to bring innovative, said the company.
By creating science-based nutritional and health solutions for animals, Novus has always been playing an active but behind-the-scenes role in human nutrition.
"Many of the challenges faced in animal health and nutrition are similar to the challenges we face as humans", stated Stratum's director Jeremy Moore.
"For instance, increasing bone strength, controlling digestive inflammation, reducing joint related lameness and building lean muscle mass are areas Novus has been very successful in helping customers with for many years. Because these same types of issues are of relevance to humans, it makes sense for Stratum to bring the Novus nutritional solutions-based business approach closer to the final consumer where a direct impact can be made on human health", added Moore.
The formal unveiling of the division will take place in March 2010.
