May 04 2006 - Germany's BASF has reported sales growth of 24% year on year for the first quarter of 2006, at EUR 12.5 billion.
However, in a statement, the company says it sales of Vitamin C, part of BASF’s Fine Chemicals activities, over the quarter were ‘unsatisfactory.’
Fixed costs in BASF’s vitamin C business declined over the quarter, it says, due to the closure of the plant in Grenaa, Denmark, as well as a number of restructuring measures carried out in 2005.
