May 25 2006 - Campbell Soup Co. (CPB) said John F. Brock resigned from its board, effective as of Wednesday, because of his commitments as president and chief executive of Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc. (CCE).
Brock had been a director of the Camden, N.J., food company since 2004. He was named top executive of Atlanta Coke bottler Coca-Cola Enterprises effective May 15.
Campbell did not immediately name a replacement for Brock. According to the company's Web site, its board had 17 members before Brock's resignation.
On Monday, Campbell said fiscal third-quarter earnings rose nearly 14% on strong sales of soup in the U.S., prompting the company to boost its forecast for its fiscal year.
The company's shares closed Wednesday at $34.55, up 76 cents, or 2.2%, after reaching a 52-week high of $34.91 earlier in the session.
