1 June 2006 - Rexam, the global consumer packaging company and the world's leading beverage can maker, confirms that it is planning to build a new wall-to-wall can making plant close to Red Bull's contract filling partner Rauch's facility in Nüziders, Austria. It represents an investment of some £45m over 2006 and 2007.

The plant is expected to come on stream at the end of 2007 and will be used solely to meet the anticipated growth of Red Bull, the world's No 1 Energy Drink.

Commenting on the project, Lars Emilson, Rexam's Chief Executive, said: "Beverage can making capacity in Europe is very tight and we have seen it stretched to its limits recently. We believe that this situation is likely to continue, given the good growth prospects. We have had a long and close relationship with Red Bull. We recently announced the extension of our exclusive contract with them and this wall-to-wall plant is a natural development of that relationship."
