Mexico's Bimbo 2Q Net MXN834.8 Million vs MXN629.2 Million (DJ)

Mexico City, July 26 2006 - Mexican bakeries and confectionery company Grupo Bimbo SA (BIMBO.MX) said Wednesday that higher sales helped boost second-quarter net profit by a third.

Bimbo, one of the world's largest bakeries, posted a profit of 834.8 million pesos ($76 million), compared with MXN629.2 million in the year-earlier period.

Sales grew 9.5% to MXN15.39 billion, while operating profit rose to MXN1.30 billion from MXN1.21 billion a year ago.
