Netherlands: Distillery M. Dirkzwager Plans to Acquire German Drinks & Food Vertriebs

28 August 2006 - Dutch distillery Royal Distilleerderij M. Dirkzwager BV is planning to buy Germany's Drinks & Food Vertriebs GmbH, reports the Dutch business press.

Financial aspects of the deal, effective October 1, 2006, were not announced.

According to the press reports, Germany is a growing market for alcoholic drinks and the Dutch distillery is currently considering an expansion.

Drinks & Food Vertriebs GmbH, is one of the four largest distilleries in Germany. The company employs 126 people. Drinks & Foods Vertriebs produces popular brands in Germany like Flaeminger Jagd and Alter Senator.

Distilleerderij M. Dirkzwager, which employs 1,700, produces the popular Floryn gin.
