Netherlands: Zeelandia Expands in Nordic Area

Zierikzee, 4th July, 2006 - In its objective to maintain a prominent position on the European market of bakery ingredients, Koninklijke Zeelandia Groep b.v. has reached an agreement with Norlander Food AB about acquisition of the shares.

The Board of Directors of Koninklijke Zeelandia Groep b.v. (Zeelandia) in Zierikzee has reached an agreement with the shareholders of Norlander Food AB (Norlander) about the take-over of all shares of Norlander Food AB as per 27th June, 2006.

The take-over of the Swedish organisation means a substantial enforcement of the group’s position on the Nordic market and offers the possibility of further growth in the Baltics and Russia. As such, the take-over is perfectly in line with the growth strategy of Zeelandia.

Norlander is a renowned and profitable organisation focused on the development, production and sales of bakery ingredients for the bread and confectionery industry in Sweden. The company also exports its products to Finland, the Baltics and Russia. Norlander has a turnover of approximately EUR 25 million and employs 75 people. The assortment of Norlander fits in well with the product range of Zeelandia.


Koninklijke Zeelandia Groep b.v.

Koninklijke Zeelandia Groep b.v., a Dutch family-owned company established in Zierikzee, is an international organisation involved in the development, production, sales and distribution of baking ingredients. Its products are sold in over 60 countries through subsidiaries, joint ventures and agents. In Europe, the group is represented in nearly every country. The Zeelandia range of products consists of a.o. bread improvers, bread and confectionery mixes, release agents and cream powders. Quality, innovation and customer-orientation are the group's core values. Zeelandia has a consolidated turnover of approximately EUR 275 million world-wide. The company employs 1,400 staff.

Norlander Food AB

Norlander Food AB, a Swedish family-owned company was founded in 1987 and is situated near Gothenburg. The organisation has a leading position on the Swedish market of bakery ingredients. The export activities in Finland, the Baltics and Russia are an important part of the company. Norlander has a specialised assortment of margarines, fillings and bread and confectionery ingredients. To secure the company’s future growth and continuity, the shareholders of Norlander decided to seek alliance with an international organisation of bakery ingredients. By joining Zeelandia, Norlander obtains additional technological knowledge and the ability to strengthen its position in the Nordic area within a strong international organisation.
