Erkens Bakkerijen BV, based in Brunssum (NL), has a turnover of about 10 million euros. The company produces and sells frozen patisserie products in Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, and the Benelux under the brand names E&E Patisserie and Erkens Bakkerijen BV.

“After the takeover of So Fine Foods (manufacturer of tofu, a soy-based alternative to meat products), this is our second acquisition this year whereby we are expanding our range of products in a focused manner,” says Jean Vandemoortele, President of the Vandemoortele Group Executive Committee.

Erkens will be part of Vandemoortele’s Lipids & Dough division, which has a turnover of at least 235 million euros. The division is aiming especially for an extension of its product portfolio in order to continue the steady growth of recent years. “Erkens will strengthen our patisserie appeal towards the rapidly expanding food service and retail channels in Germany and other European countries such as the United Kingdom and France,” says Eddy de Mûelenaere, Managing Director of the Lipids & Dough division.

It is therefore to be expected that the sale will have a positive effect on the continuity and further development of the activities of Erkens.
