30 October 2006 - Bradford-based Asian food specialist Mumtaz, who launched a halal baby food range this summer in supermarkets across the nation, is now ready to export its products beyond the British borders.
According to reports in the Yorkshire press, the company is planning to sell its new range in the Middle East with retail giant Carrefour reportedly going to stock the baby food in its outlets. An announcement is expected soon.
The British wet baby food market is valued at GBP 95.5 million per annum and the Muslim food market is valued at more than GBP 429 million a year, says one newspaper.
Mumtaz Food Industries reportedly started out as a takeaway in 1980 and over time began supplying its own ranges of Asian food to UK supermarkets. The company now has a GBP 25 million turnover and employs 250 people across West Yorkshire, conclude the reports.
