10 November 2006 - French retail group Auchan plans to develop its own domestic network of hypermarkets in Romania. This month, the retailer opened its first outlet in Bucharest, with an investment of 40 million euro, say local press reports.
Auchan will pursue its expansion in the country with a further investment of 160 million euro to open 4 more outlets in 2007, add the reports.
The outlets will reportedly be built in the cities of Cluj-Napoca, Targu Mures, Bucharest, and Pitesti.
