Pepsi's Romanian Potato Chip Firm Star Foods to Raise Output by 25%

21 November 2006 - Romanian potato chip and snack manufacturer Star Foods, owned by US giant PepsiCo, has upgraded its Bucharest plant, and will now be able to increase its output by 25%, reports the Romanian press.

"We invested several million euros in a new production line, as well as in environmental protection," stated Sotiris Yannopoulos, general manager of Star Food Romania, told one newspaper.

Star Foods is the largest domestic producer of crisps and snacks and holds a 46% market share. The company’s brands include Star Chips, Star Max, Krax, Star Snacks, Cheetos and Star Pop Corn brands, conclude the press reports.
