23 November 2006 - Ocean Spray Cranberries is planning to quadruple production of its Craisins® line of products by building a new plant in Wisconsin Rapids estimated at USD 50 million, say the local newspapers.
According to the papers, the new facility will create at least 50 new jobs and is the latest in a series of capital investments nationwide. The company’s second plant in Wisconsin Rapids will be operational by September 2008.
Ocean Spray describes itself as an agricultural cooperative owned by more than 650 cranberry growers in Massachusetts, Wisconsin, New Jersey, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, and other parts of Canada as well as more than 100 Florida grapefruit growers. The company claims to be North America's leading producer of canned and bottled juices and juice drinks. Ocean Spray posted fiscal 2005 gross sales of about $1.4 billion.
